Hi all,
Just wanted to give an update on the architecture work for serving the
needs of documenting Sugar that runs on any hardware and the XO
hardware specifically, and I'm so pleased to say that Floss Manual's
toolkit kicks butt and takes names. (Complete, utter idiomatic
speech.) What I mean is, the took stack and workflow that FM gives us
will let us create a manual for OLPC distributions, combining in
content from a Sugar standalone manual, and give us the ability to put
in place 18 other manuals for Activities that run specifically on
Sugar (and other OSes, come to think of it), where those manuals can
be mixed in to the manual depending on what is delivered with a
deployment.
We still have some work to do on mixing in differences that happen due
to running Sugar on different hardware, and also differences that vary
depending on whether a school server is present with the XO hardware
deployment, but overall we have a great collaborative content
management system that continues to hold up as we test it.
I will be doing work in the coming weeks on our booksprint, trying to
get logistics settled. It's an exciting time, and I just wanted to
note my excitement with FM tools and gratitude to the people behind
them.
Thanks,
Anne
