I'm in discussions about paid contracts for replacing textbooks with
Free digital learning materials based on Sugar and other Free Software
and Creative Commons content. This is government work, so it's going
to take time, but the more of us who can make this pitch to more
education authorities the faster the contracts are likely to come in.
There are many billions of dollars of grant money available in the US
for educational innovation, but we have not been on the radar of the
grant-making people at the US Dept. of Education or at private
foundations.

I will be happy to provide more information to anyone who wants to work on this.
