actually...i worked this out.
there were images with chinese chars in the file name:
??0002??.jpg
can we fix objavi to deal with attachment names with utf8 chars?

I tried creating some e-books from my Booki-imported manuals today to
confirm that the image URL's would or would not work. The good news
is that the image URLs do not seem to prevent you from creating valid
PDFs and EPUBs. The not so good news is that the import includes
,
and tags for each chapter. This causes no
problem with PDFs, but with EPUB the heading the the title tag
contents and the h1 tag run together, like this:
ActivitesGuideSugar:NeedToKnowToWriteSugarActivityWhat Do I Need To
Know To Write A Sugar Activity?
The good news is that if you remove these tags using the HTML view of
the page editor the problem goes away.
Another thing I noticed is that when you make a PDF the chapter
headings are not numbered. (They aren't numbered in the EPUB either,
but that might be intentional).

another issue is that the chapters are being imported with the incorrect
img src info. ie they show this:

which should be this:

When I proudly showed off my book "Make Your Own Sugar Activities!"
hot off the presses from Lulu everyone but everyone had the same
question: "Where is your name?" Well, my name is on the book, and I
have a short bio that goes with it, but the author name is not on the
title page where most people will look for it.
I understand that FLOSS Manuals are in general written by teams and in
such cases nobody "owns" the book. Fine for them, and fine for me
when I'm doing a FLOSS Manual. However, we're looking to make Booki
do much more than just FLOSS Manuals. We're going to have corrected
EPUBs from the Internet Archive, new translations of books, novels,
poems, plays, etc. All those things need to have author names on the
title page.
Just some food for thought.

actually...i worked this out.
there were images with chinese chars in the file name:
??0002??.jpg
can we fix objavi to deal with attachment names with utf8 chars?

I tried creating some e-books from my Booki-imported manuals today to
confirm that the image URL's would or would not work. The good news
is that the image URLs do not seem to prevent you from creating valid
PDFs and EPUBs. The not so good news is that the import includes
, and tags for each chapter. This causes no
problem with PDFs, but with EPUB the heading the the title tag
contents and the h1 tag run together, like this:
ActivitesGuideSugar:NeedToKnowToWriteSugarActivityWhat Do I Need To
Know To Write A Sugar Activity?
The good news is that if you remove these tags using the HTML view of
the page editor the problem goes away.
Another thing I noticed is that when you make a PDF the chapter
headings are not numbered. (They aren't numbered in the EPUB either,
but that might be intentional).

another issue is that the chapters are being imported with the incorrect
img src info. ie they show this:
/bypassing-censorship/static/resized_600x229_GVO-en.jpg
which should be this:

When I proudly showed off my book "Make Your Own Sugar Activities!"
hot off the presses from Lulu everyone but everyone had the same
question: "Where is your name?" Well, my name is on the book, and I
have a short bio that goes with it, but the author name is not on the
title page where most people will look for it.
I understand that FLOSS Manuals are in general written by teams and in
such cases nobody "owns" the book. Fine for them, and fine for me
when I'm doing a FLOSS Manual. However, we're looking to make Booki
do much more than just FLOSS Manuals. We're going to have corrected
EPUBs from the Internet Archive, new translations of books, novels,
poems, plays, etc. All those things need to have author names on the
title page.
Just some food for thought.
