[FM discuss] floss custom search

hi all

i have been experimenting a bit with the google custom search
funcitonality...its a google api that gives the opportunity to set your
own lis tof site for querying...

with a little js, i have come up with this:

http://en.flossmanuals.net/search

by default it searches floss manuals site, alhtough i am considering it
should only search the manuals and not the rest of the domain

if you then choose one of the boxes u get to search :
1 - documentation sites about free software from a 'choice picks' list
which is annotated in xml, and u can see it here:
http://adam.engagetv.com/cse/docs_anno.xml

2 - forums and lists about free software, annotation is here:
http://adam.engagetv.com/cse/forums_anno.xml


i was thinking of adding this to the front page of the site...i was
wondering a few things:
1. i would appreciate any good links u have to good forums and doc sites
to include in the search
2. the js is basic, is there anyone that could help me improve
it...essentially i would like:
* the search terms to appear in the search box of the results page
* the correct checked box to be checked in the results page 

can anyone help with some simple js?
