hi :)

It looks like we have a couple of videos being made for inclusion in the
short doco! Great!

I have a few small updates for the list. The first is that FM Blender
guru Julian Oliver won the New Zealand Open Source Award for Creativity!
Congrats! The prize was for Julians work with SelectParks and his
relentless promotion, exploration and teaching of floss technologies in
gaming engines, blender etc. Julian will of course be performing at the
launch of FM tomorrow, so if you are in Amsterdam (and not many on the
list are...but just in case...) come and have an extra toast to
Julian :)

The second is that we now have two print-on-demand manuals available,
one for Audacity, and one for FLOSS Manuals, and I am working on the
Blender manual. My plan is that by the end of the year we will have all
the bigger manuals in PoD form. If anyone else wishes to jump in and
help lemme know...

You can actually keep track of the PoD manuals here:
http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=1107365

We aren't using this 'storefront' but I will modify the header logo and
use it when more manuals are available. (I will have some copies of each
of these two books at the launch party).

And in progress, with release imminent, are Dereks PureData manual and
Mick Fuzz's collection of manuals about video distribution. Mick is
writing manuals about Avidemux, DVDAuthorGUI, bliptv, archive.org,
Azureus and more...I think Mick will update us about that sometime in
the near future...

Also, Nik Gaffney has begun his mission to write a Emacs manual...

I mentioned this before but Aco has begun work on two new plugins. One
for translation of the interface and one for workflow management of
chapter/manual translations. We will drop these into the TWiki
repository when finished.

Also the investigations into PDF using Reportlab have come along. Mr
Snow has found someone that is interested in looking at what we need
from Reportlab PDF generation. I also found this in my research :
http://pisa.by.spirito.de/

It is a html->pdf converter based on python reportlab libraries. It
supports unicode which is a big plus, so we will look into it for the
Farsi translation of FM.

Speaking of Farsi...Zita Joyce has just joined the list and is now
researching possible translators for FM in Farsi. I think Zita will
introduce herself and update us as she goes.

These are just a few bits and pieces I wanted to let you know about.

Also, as a note. I find when I post to this list I get replies directly
to me and there are very many good productive discussions... however I
think it would be better if these conversations continued on the
list...would it be ok if replies come to the list instead so we can
continue the conversation within the list?
