[FM Discuss] FM, OLPC, and SugarLabs

Just to chime in with my 2 cents (following Annes idiomatic lead ;)

I would find it very exciting if we can extend the work Anne has done to
further assist the promotion and use of Sugar. I was wondering if we
could announce this kind of activity with an event focused on generating
more content - perhaps a Book Sprint held in realspace or entirely
online...

I also want to make a brief comment to give clarity on the translation
set up - FM will establish a general translation zone in the next few
weeks (when I get back to Amsterdam and before the Inkscape Book
Sprint). We could then consider migrating translations of the OLPC
manual there. 

In general our approach towards translations is to establish language
communities with their own FM platform in their own language. This is
the process underway with FLOSS Manuals Farsi. A living community better
ensures the manuals are maintained, extended, and updated. 

We will then follow the Farsi FM up with possibly French, Finnish and
Bengali (perhaps also Burmese but I am awaiting some information on
this) if all goes well. 

However we will also create a 'holding zone' for translations to/from
any language. Then we can start building content incrementally in any
language and when there is sufficient contributors and content in any
given lang we can look towards setting up a standalone FM in that
language. In this way we start to develop a FM language network.

So when this general translation zone is online I will post the
announcement (expect it in about 2 weeks).
