below is a email from Michael Mandiberg. Michael is a print design guru
and currently putting a book together about design. In the book he uses
explanations using proprietary apps but he wants to collaborate to make
it FLOSSy, and re-do the book in Gimp/Inkscape etc.

In the meantime hes preparing the first version for publishing and is
after a tech editor to help prepare it. There is a fee
available...anyone interested please contact Michael directly

Hes a great guy, and I'm sure the work would be interesting...

Hello all,

Digital Foundations is getting really close to going to the printer. We
have a printer deadline in less than a month. And its already up on
Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Foundations-Introduction-Design-Creative/dp/0321555988. But we're not quite done yet: we need to have someone go through the book and proof it for technical aspects.

Does anyone want to Technical Edit the book?, or know someone who can?

Please forward this to anyone you think qualified.

Basically we need someone to read through docs and/or pdfs of the
chapters and note if they think there are better ways of doing the
technical aspect. we are not expecting many revisions here, b/c the
book is introductory, and it has already been vetted by numerous people
on the wiki.

Illustrator x 6 chapters
InDesign x 2 chapters
Flash x 3 chapters

Each chapter is approx 12-15 pages.

Its basic level stuff. you can see the chapters here:

if you are interested, please contact Michael Nolan
(michael.nolan at peachpit.com), and cc me, Michael Mandiberg
(michael at mandiberg.com)

thanks!

forwarding == YES!

Michael
