For Git there is a book available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non
Commercial-Share Alike 3.0
license<http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/> called
ProGit and is hosted at http://progit.org/. I think this can be used as a
base for further manuals and/or appendixes.
