Ok,
To build up to the FLOSS Manuals summit, and to give a routine update,
heres some of what is coming up :
FLOSS Manuals Summit
March 2-8. Amsterdam.
PureData Book Sprint
We are trying to work out the dates now for a sprint in NYC. I don't
think i can attend but Hans-Christoph Steiner (lead dev for PD) and
Derek Holzer will be at the helm. Possibly it will be in late March.
FSF Book Sprint
The Free Software Foundation will host Book Sprint (I'll be there to
co-ordinate, Andy Oram is also working on this). It will be to work on a
manual about the command line. Boston, March 21,22
Doctrain Book Sprint
The Doctrain conference will host a Book Sprint in California. Janet
Swisher and I will co-ordinate. The sprint will be about FireFox, and
the Mozilla Foundation are sending Chris Hofmann (Director of
Engineering at Mozilla) to participate. March 17-20.
Linux Wochen Linz
This is being negotiated at present. Potentially a FLOSSify event in
Linz, Austria. April 22-26.
Open Translation Book Sprint
A Book Sprint to write a manual about Open Translation tools. being
organised by myself and Allen Gunn (Gunner from Aspiration Tech).
Amsterdam, June 26-30.
In addition to this, I am working on :
* moving FM to a new server
* talking to Safari Books about selling FM books
* releasing Digital Foundations as a book
* migrating Karl Fogels 'Producing Open Source Software' to FM
Also things I am directly involved in include working with Douglas
Bagnall to test Burmese, Chinese, Farsi, Arabic in FM esp. the PDF
generation for books, & chatting to Aco about Booki (although I haven't
had much time to commit to this recently).
I think thats all that is in the wind...did i forget anything?
