Hi everyone, i was part of that mini sprint form last weekend in
Berlin, since i never before had the chance to be on a real book
sprint i cant really tell much regarding its pros and cons.

I tend to believe that more can be achieved when the group is in a
private space, but this is just a belief inspired on traditional
academic spaces.. and now that i think about missing the good coffee
or the chance to see other people moving around in a way so informal
that allowed and gave in us, the group doing the mini sprint, some
sort of flexible and lively energy dedicated to the activity on writing.

Sometimes I felt in the need to find a method on how to be aware what
others were writing about, is funny to be in the same table, have a
thing to say or ask but refrain since you prefer to respect the
concentration of the other. Anyhow i just write this thinking it will
be cool to have some sort of alert balloons appearing on screen
announcing when someone or some topic, one is subscribed to, is
writing, opening a particular chapter or editing using similar words
to the ones one just typed in. Perhaps that is distracting also, but
at least i will be aware when to ask, share or invite to analyze a
situation one has in mind. I think this feature could work if one can
just with one click subscribe or unsubscribe from people and topics
that are active.

It was also clear to me that the model to create a FM relies heavily
on the trust on each other, making one feel that is possible to be a
writer and be, at least for some time the expert. A lot of trust comes
in terms of the collective collaboration when one becomes aware that
we will all have the chance to review, be editors and proof read thus
helping each other and among all building a better text. that is
really a very powerful experience that i wish i can see replicated
specially in circles of people that tend to think they cant write or
approach a topic. I wonder if i make sense but i really wanted to
react and throw in some words after the workshop and book sprint
related to Streaming Events.

So to finally answer Joshua's question on those lego pieces... it is a
little robot cam i call halfbro4500, its an IRC bot under the nick of
halFbroda that listens to commands as in: !south, !north, !move 1 45, !
move 2 90... etc

A webcam is streaming and on top of 2 servo motors, one for the X axis
and the other for the Y axis.

Is all done with an arduino and is documented in spanish but let me
know if you will like to know more, so to send you the links etc.

To wrap, i will be also at wintercamp (with the bricolabs network), i
guess i will have plenty of free time so im hoping to join in to the
sessions of FM that might allow taking newcomers on board!

looking forward,
/a
