Thanks, Ed. I am eager to hear more. I heard someone from PEARSON (the big textbook and tech book conglomerate) talk about the California initiative last week. (It was at the talk where I gave the presentation I posted to this list.) The PEARSON employee was very unhappy about it, but admitted he didn't know much yet. And at O'Reilly, we're very curious about impacts and possibilities.

I have been gathering information on Gov. Schwarzenegger's proposal to
save lots of money by switching from printed textbooks to free digital
textbooks. It's still quite confusing, but I'll let you know more when
I know more. The deadline for the coming school year has passed. The
program proposes to start with math and science.
