Hi, I'm new to the list ... interested in contributing but haven't done 
so yet, so just trying to delurk ;-)

Variables, as far as I'm aware, can make translations difficult. I would 
recommend getting advice from an experienced translator or three before 
going ahead with it, especially since there would be an awful lot of 
them in a manual written this way.
