nono...its a local login to stop anyone from using the script on the
server its installed on

yes

that would be cool, except...what i was after was something like this:
lets think of a fictional booki user, for this example we'll just call
him 'adam'. adam likes to publish material on free software. he doesnt
care who writes it, but likes to put all the finished content he can
find in one place. he also likes it to be under a single domain and he
likes it to look the same.

so, adam installs the 'booki publisher' script. with the publisher
script adam enters the info for a number of books he knows exist on the
booki.cc server and a couple he knows that exist on the booki.fsf.org
server...or some such...

with the booki publisher adam sets a default template for the books. he
then presses 'publish' for each one and the script sends the info to
objavi.flossmanuals.net and returns a zip that is then unzipped in the
'books/' dir on the server he is working on...adam manuallly links ot
these from the home page for the site he admins

later when the clever people at floss manuals release 'booki publisher
0.2' adam can also provide a category for each book and make a template
for the front page of his site...the books are then published and all
the links auto generated under the correct categories and included in
the templated front page

...

then adams friend mr fuzz wants to write publish just manuals on video
and free software. he installs the 'booki publisher' and does the same
thing...

0.3 includes stats ;)
