After seeing Andy Oram talk at DebConf10 I was inspired to propose this FOSS
manual idea:

Computer & Equipment Recycling Handbook

After reading this article =>
http://www.osnews.com/story/23645/How_to_Revitalize_Mature_Computers
I think there is a clear need for a "field book" on Recycling Computers
which would cover the following topics:

   - How to test old hardware to assess it's revitalizing potential
   - How to identify computer components, test them and locate drivers
   - Understanding what hardware is capable of what task and where recycling
   makes sense.
   - Integrating recycled computers in to an organization ( example is LTSP
   or Edubuntu )
   - Single purpose computers
   - FOSS software that works better on older systems
   - Now that it's dead... Recycling electronics, how to.
   - Setting up and running a computer recycling operation
   - Glossary of supported
   - Motherboards/CPU/Memory
      - Video Cards
      - Sound Cards
      - PCI Cards
      - Modems

Above is to get the ball rolling, what is needed is to flesh this out in to
a useable manual that is a must have for system recyclers.
Since this would be a valuable book for many countries, there should be a
translation plan from the start.
I also thing that each chapter should be self contained so that a person can
make there own mix for there recycling needs.

Comments, suggestions and ideas are welcome.
