hi Mark,
My very simple recommendation would be to start small and move forward
in achievable increments. Also remember that the manual is the product
of the people involved and so get them involved in helping create the
initial draft. Keep the process fast and lightweight - don't get trapped
in to much planning overhead....
so, for example you may wish to consider something like this:
1. ask those that have volunteered what they want to write about
2. include those chapters in an outline
3. add the chapters you want and the chapters you need to fill it out
4. dont make more than 12 chapters to start with
5. write them
6. publish
7. repeat ;)
something like that...everyone has their own working methods so do as
you like! however i have experienced that remote working is better
conducted if the communication is kept simple and you get quickly to the
desired goal. communicate, write, publish, celebrate, repeat.
