[FM Discuss] Question about mixing volunteer and paid labor

FLOSS Manuals is a good example of an open activity where a few people
are paid and many work for free. For instance, I get reimbursed for
editing on the CiviCRM manual, which is written by volunteers whose
only reimbursement (pretty nice, actually) is a trip to Lake Tahoe.
