What equipment / process are you using to perfect bind the books?  I see you 
have a paper cutter similar to mine, which would be a MAJOR pain to lug 
around, but necessary to have at a show, but I have not come up with a 
workable / portable perfect binding solution.

I use a liquid glue myself which takes up to 6 hours to dry, but I expect a 
hot glue process may work, but not be as strong in the end.
