I've published the book.
I think that the web-display graphics should have white be a transparent
color - will that get rid of the "border" you mentioned? On white paper, the
transparency color shouldn't matter, and only in two of the images in the
PDF do I see some grey border that is a result of the scan itself I would
imagine - it's a very linear border only on one side. Some cleanup work
might help with that.
I had to laugh at Martin's Indesign comment - fork yes! This finite of
layout and image placement ain't easy in Indesign either. It's fiddly and
requires a lot of fine tuning. Looks like it's getting there, James. Nice
work.
