ok, but are you referring to http://eloquentjavascript.net/?

as i understand it, that is the original online version, which has been 
imported into flossmanuals here: 
http://booki.flossmanuals.net/contents-eloquent-javascript/ - & it's the 
FM version that i'm working on.

will these icons be visible & functioning in the FM version?
