Mick,
I subscribed now, thanks.
Do me a favor and publish this as an update to the original thread (I can't
post to original thread as I just subscribed now). I will track and respond
as necessary

Marc's proposal to update WordPress Flossmanual
=====================================
I just finished a fairly long discussion on the Codex about this (see
http://codex.wordpress.org/Talk:WordPress_Quick_Start_Guide#Need_help_.2F_guidelines_about_commercial_content),
I was directed to a certain Jane Wells from Automaticc regarding a
"Wordpress manual" project, I wrote and haven't heard back, which leads me
to assume that Mick's proposed Flossmanual on Wordpress is where the action
is right now, which I think is a great idea.
My proposal is essentially to conduct extensive revisions and updates of the
current WordPress Flossmanual (beginner / intermediate Wordpress
documentation), by importing relevant sections of my own WordPress Quick
Start Guide:
http://wpacademy.tv/wordpress-quick-start-tutorial/
(extensive revisions are being planned due in about 4 weeks)
The goal is simple, its to produce the best free WordPress beginner /
intermediate documentation on the planet. We have the tools, we have the
will, let's do it. Everyone stands to gain from this.
My question is that this is a substantial project, I am a professional
WordPress educator and do this full-time for a living, so for me to invest
this kind of time I would need some fairly prominent attribution as well as
a link to my training services (wordpress webinars) somewhere . This
privilege of course needs to be granted to all the contributors carrying on
professional services, which means there needs to be an arbiter as to
prominence / order of listing etc... it's a bit complicated (and I also
don't know if this is in the spirit of Flossmanuals).
Note also intersting affiliate opportunities (hosting, commercial themes and
support services), I have no objection to send these to the Floss software
creators, it seems foolish to me to let income opportunities go altogether
(as is done on the Codex) when people have done hard work to put together
free softtware and training
Let me know your feedback.
THanks
Marc Beneteau
