Adam - totally fair question.

And you are right, this one is not, though we have in the pipeline a number of tools that I then would love to incorporate into the content.

Specifically, we are releasing:

1. In the Clear, a suite of apps for emergency notification and content wipe for symbian phones / feature phones - alpha out, beta to be released next week
2. Guardian Project Suite tools for Android - most apps in the suite out in beta
3. SMSTester, a testing app for SMS mobile delivery, reliability, and content blocking - beta out and on github
4. other apps we are testing now with users for priority development - SMS encryption for low end phones, app encyrption, and disk /content encryption, for example.

All apps are FLOSS and on Github now or will be.

Our thinking, though, is that in order to mitigate risks you need to understand the threats first. Fact is that people all around the world are using mobiles and will want specific tutorials on FLOSS tools BUT we would shortchange them if we did not talk about the overall environment, and threats in this (yes, rather closed) environment.

Fact is also that there are hardly any FLOSS security tools for low-end phone which is, of course, what we are working on. Floss Manuals would be an ideal place for manuals but together with an overview (the doc in question), a risk assement guide/checklist which we are publishing next week and then lockdown guides for specific phones and specific tools.

Given some of the recent content there on Internet security (which also mentioned non-Floss tools, incidentally), and the fact that we are working on FLOSS apps, I figured Floss Manuals would be great channel for a section on mobile that is realistic, addresses real needs, and puts app manuals, etc into context.

Let me know if I am mistaken!

We love your manuals and would be honored to be in EthanZs and the various author's company :) We would love to add to a whole section on mobile security (I also just created a group( as we publish more content and tools (see, for example: http://lab.safermobile.org/wiki/InTheClear#Supported_Devices) , though written content will likely be in a number of different places in various languages to increase dissemination.

We just put in the flossmanuals this: http://booki.flossmanuals.net/mobile-security-risks-for-activists/edit/ and are hoping to publish how-tos on a series on floss apps (java/feature phones and smart phones) that we are building and collaborating on as part of a project called SaferMobile.

Can I delete this and republish or overwrite it or what is the process?
