interesting article; i have to say that badges make me think of brownies
& scouts, & as someone who was a rather bad brownie in my youth, the
idea of earning badges is more of a disincentive for me than an
incentive ...
giving people roles/job descriptions is a good motivator - i've learned
that with volunteers, if you invite someone to take on a specific role,
& they can say "i am the such&such for this project" they are more
likely to take ownership & initiative than if they feel like they are
just a random helper.
but i haven't read much about how the badges would work - maybe for
something specific like book sprint leaders it could be a good idea.
