[FM Discuss] Forking an official manual for translation in FM?

Hi,

There is no up-to-date manual for GIMP in Finnish. GIMP is very popular but
also hard for newbies to learn. So we have been thinking about doing one
since the Finnish site was started.

However, the official manual of GIMP (http://docs.gimp.org/2.6/en/) has not
been translated into Finnish. So the best way of doing a Finnish GIMP
manual would be to translate the first and maybe the second part of the
official manual into Finnish.

Basically it would become a derivative work or a fork of the official
manual.

English FM probably doesn't have a GIMP manual since the official one is
available. And GIMP is so complicated that it would take an eternity to do
a new manual in Finnish.

What do you think about this? I don't know if you would ever think about
something like this in English FM.

I have to ask the GIMP documentation people about this.
