I think a permanent fund-raising campaign with a button on every manual
would be fine. Let's not be shy; the FM authors have put in a lot of
work and deserve the support of the community.

On line 80 we currently have:

<img alt=""
src="http://dabuttonfactory.com/b.png?t=donate%20now%21&f=sans-serif&ts=15&tc=ffffff&it=png&c=5&bgt=gradient&bgc=f2a100&ebgc=fc6900&w=90&h=30"
style="width: 90px; height: 30px;">

I would suggest the following changes...

1. Serve the button direct from flossmanuals.net (if the other site goes
down, people won't be able to donate)

2. Provide alt text for search engines and accessibility

3. Put the button CSS into the main FM CSS file and tweak the style so
we can lose the thick border around the button (in Firefox 3.6)

4. Rewrite the text above the button to make it more punchy. At the
moment it's very polite, but maybe not attention grabbing enough. I
suggest something like "FLOSS Manuals are free for everyone. Support our
work with a donation!"

This makes the distinction between helping with time (e.g. proof
reading, translating or updating) and helping with cash, which I think
is an important distinction when a project is asking for help.

Cheers!

Daniel
