Not necessarily, some Free projects work against commercialisation. For
instance no-one would launch a proprietary alternative to Audacity now,
just like the market for paid web browsers has been almost non-existent
since Microsoft used their desktop leverage to kill Netscape as a
company (look it up in the history books, kids :-) )

I don't have a problem with alerting users if they are using a non-free
fork of a project that they didn't know was Free.
