The Iterative Book Development Manifesto
http://www.booki.cc/a-webpage-is-a-book/_edit/#/edit/iterative-book-development/

This is the first manifesto for Iterative Book Development. It was
developed on the FLOSS Manuals mailing list and encompasses a value
statement and method snippets useful for fuelling collaborative book
development.

We value:

1. Collaboration and facilitation
2. Completed chunks over incomplete volumes
3. Here and now production over sometime soon production
4. Meaningful credit for all contributors

IBD methods:

Jam : sit in a group and brainstorms ideas, one person writes down the
flow of consciousness. At the end the person recording the ideas tries
to prioritise the themes and work them into the text.

Muse : 2 persons nominated 'scribe' and 'muse' sit together. The muse
explains the ideas and the scribe writes this into sentences and
paragraphs as they discuss.

Napkin : draw a concept on a paper and discuss it with an illustrator.
The illustrator creates a graphical articulation of the idea.

Top Tail : go through the first and last chapters in every chapter and
work out if they support each other and if they lead into the previous
and next chapters nicely.

Scissors : print out a series of chapters, give copies to everyone to
read and annotate. Print out another copy, lie it on the floor and
restructure with scissors. Annotate with heavy markers. Reconstitute
digitally.

Harmonise : go through lumpy text and rewrite in your voice.

Target : invite a target reader to read and and provide feedback while
the text is in production.

Buster : go through the text and challenge all assertions.

Couch : group brainstorms ideas like the Jam method but specifically
focuses on what makes them feel uncomfortable about the content or topic.

Posse : break away group assigned to rework and finish specific content
(could be a block of chapters, a set of paragraphs etc) in a set time.

Fork : fork the book, restructure and present to the group.
