In any case, wkhtmltopdf seems to have crashed each time with 
"Segmentation Fault" (excluding once, when it just hanged). It prints a 
lot of the following error messages too:
QHttpNetworkConnectionChannel::_q_receiveReply() called without 
QHttpNetworkReply, 0 bytes on socket.
QThread::start: Thread creation error: Resource temporarily unavailable

For some statistics, here's the return codes from wkhtmltopdf this month:
    1479 times wkhtmltopdf returned 0 ("OK")
     351 times wkhtmltopdf returned 2 (?)
     118 times wkhtmltopdf returned -11 ("Segmentation Fault")
     107 times wkhtmltopdf returned -15 ("Killed")
      25 times wkhtmltopdf returned 1 (?)

You need shell access, but I'm working on improved error reporting.
