I just wanted to revisit the idea of booki publisher lite.

This was put together by Michael to serve the needs of the CiviCRM
community a way of viewing the FLOSS Manual inside the civicrm.org URL,
adding formatting, and making friendly, structured URLs.

The code is here
https://github.com/michaelmcandrew/bookipublisherlite
and michael's post about it on the list is here

At Mozilla Festival we discussed if it could serve the needs of
fledgling language communities in FM and other groups using BookType.

I think there are a few situations like this some languages ( fa - nl -
es) where there are enough manuals translated to merit a front page and
separate URL, but which would also benefit from the central repository
(which is currently by default booki.flossmanuals.net), rather than
maintaining a full BookType install.

It might be nice to think of a wish list of a minimal front end site (
created by this mini-booki publisher). It wouldn't be able to do
everything that the current system does - ie the remix interface.
But could ideally be integrated into BookType somehow.

Some of the core features might be

* host manuals within the language / community URL
* be able to link to translations easily (as in current sites)
* to be easily theme-able to add banner images, footers and menu items
linking out to blogs, about pages etc.

I do think that if communities can, it's good for them to install a
BookType instance as it makes for a more resilient federated community.
But this idea of Bookpublisherlite could be a good stepping stone in
that direction.

Adam what would be the best way to feed into the BookType team about this?

nice one
mick
