For things like this, I think it can be quite acceptable to alter, and
especially improve a manual when translating, and about all it might
require would be either a preface or perhaps an additional chapter about
the translation to mention these things. It's of course part of the
value of an electronic manual that it can be corrected, updated, and
improved over a period of time.
