If you are running Booki on a normal server the update should be easy
with Django migration. Finnish version is in a virtual environment and
I had to use command line SQL instead of Django migrations, which was
a bit complicated and should be avoided. So I had to create some
database tables manually although they are normally created
automatically.

Booktype is a more advanced version of Booki. For me the main
difference was the messaging system since our older Booki didn't have
it. In most cases communications move into a Moodle or a mailing list,
but it is still necessary to have some communication system in
Booki/Booktype itself. For your Booki the main difference is probably
the TinyMCE editor used by Booktype, since the Xinha editor used by
Booki was a bit difficult in some ways.
