hi everyone,

i have some exciting news from the land of UpStage: we have finally had
some success in our search for funds to rebuild our platform! Creative
Europe is funding 60% of our budget for a collaboration with two
european arts organisations, that will produce a series of networked
performances as well as a rebuild of the UpStage software to bring it up
to date with current technologies including functioning on mobile
devices. read the announcement here: https://upstage.org.nz/?p=8547

this means that we will need to completely rewrite the manual. we're
currently right at the beginning of the software development, still
making decisions about choices of technology, methodologies etc., so
it's not possible to start writing a manual when the software doesn't
exist. but it would be good to hear from anyone out there who might like
to contribute to the documentation. maybe it's interesting for you to
get involved in the process early on - we are a small but enthusiastic
team at UpStage & we do like to have fun while we work :)

we would like to really up our documentation for the project. we have
never had proper developer documentation, & the user manual has usually
been out of date. we need documentation for those who want to install
the server application on their own server, as well as for those who
want to get involved as developers, and user documentation for the
artists who will use the platform. so there are quite a few angles there
for the technical writing.

if you would like to find out more about UpStage, please visit the
website, https://upstage.org.nz. the user manual for UpStage v3 is on FM
here: https://en.flossmanuals.net/upstage-v3-user-manual/_full/

please contact me off-list if you would like to get involved in any
capacity - documentation, development, artist ...
