Now things are finally up and running! Yeah! <br><br>With regards to your interest in OOo we have recently created a new manual called small business tools, it is I guess an introduction to the use of Floss software for small business admin as an alternative to MS Office. It is intended to be a basic intro to the Floss alternatives such as OOo what each app does and will include reasons for switching to Floss software including testimonials from businesses and organisations that have made the switch. The manual was created about a week before we moved and with all the disruptions from the move it is still blank, but now I am back online I will start to ammend that anyway if you are interested in helping with such a manual it would be much appreciated. <br><br>One of the things I do for income is training in MS Office apps and windows, and a goal of mine is to do similar training but for Floss software such as OOo, GIMP, Inkscape, etc... To that end I need good training manuals that include tutorials and exercises for students to carry out. I also need more businesses/organisations using Floss software to create more of a demand for such training.<br><br>That is one of the reasons why I am working on the Small Business Tools manual - to help businesses make the choice to use Floss software. I also want to help develop student focused tutorials and exercises to be included in other FM manuals such as the OOo, Ubuntu and Inkscape manuals. To top it all off I think the whole concept and Philosophy of FM is really cool and want to contribute in any way I can to help with it's sucess anyway.<br><br>I look forward to your contributions.<br><br>cheers,<br><br>John Curwood<br><br><br>

Hey,<br><br>I will first introduce myself, my name is Austin Martin. I guess I should say how I got into FLOSS. The basic reason boils down to the fact that I didn't want to have to pay for, and couldn't pay for things like Photoshop. (Being as young as I am) Later as I started getting into Freeware and OSS, but only for the monetary side, I began learning more about FSF, OSI, and the general idea of OSS and FLOSS. As time passed, I started to (for lack of a better word) love the community sense of FLOSS, and the reason for FLOSS. Which lead me to join some of the communities, some in larger ways and some in smaller. (Also I've uninstalled most freeware for FLOSS) Before I joined here, I joined the OpenOffice.org Community mostly working on the Art Project. I recently joined FLOSS Manuals about 4 days ago. (I would also like to say that getting started and joining, was extremely smooth/easy.)<br> <br>Hope to make some great content, and promote FLOSS and FLOSS Manuals.<br><br>----<br>The Topic of the OpenOffice.org Manual.<br><br>I doubt I need to say this, but the OpenOffice.org manual is fairly dated. (as it reflects 2.0) And for such a large application consisting of 6 other fairly large ones, an extremely small manual.
