Hi guys,<div><br></div><div>I am currently doing my bachelor thesis in Mediadesign/Mediaart at the Bauhaus University Weimar.</div><div><br></div><div><div>I want to help to see free software as a real alternative to proprietary solutions in schools and youthwork. </div>
<div>I know that there is a lot of stuff online, but unfortunately, most of it in English, which in these parts of </div><div>Germany, many teachers don't understand.</div><div><br></div><div>My work is divided in three parts:</div>
<div><br></div><div>- The Operating System</div><div>I will develop a System based on (L)Ubuntu or puredyne, which runs on old machines (Pentium III/IV class) </div><div>and can be used in creative work and media education. I am going to install it in a school or youth club </div>
<div>and document the reactions of the teaching personel.</div><div><br></div><div>- The Web Platform</div><div>To ensure the sustainability of the project, I will create a website including a mediawiki, where teachers,</div>
<div>youthworkers and software developers can collaborate on the documentation of free software.</div><div><br></div><div>- The Movie</div><div>In the Movie "Voices for free foftware in media education", developers and users of free software answer the </div>
<div>question, why (if?) the usage of free software in education is possible and makes sense.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>First of: Is anyone interested in helping out? Do you have existing projects / people in mind that could be</div>
<div>interesting? If any of you are willing to give me an interview (and are living in Europe), I'd be glad to come</div><div>by.</div><div><br></div><div>For the web platform, I do not want to reenvent the wheel, so my plan is to point to sites like FM wherever</div>
<div>I can. Unfortunatly, I can not find any german manuals here, so if there really are none, I'd be willing to</div><div>translate some of them.</div><div><br></div><div>Please tell me what you think.</div><div><br>
</div><div>Greetings</div><div>Simon</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div>
