Hi,

We have been planning to make a Finnish version of Tech Tools for Activism for a while, not much progress yet.

I am wondering about what kind of software to include in an updated version.

The biggest question is what kind of a self-hosted platform could be used for organizing campaigns or small NGO's. It should be relatively light-weight and easy to install in a basic web hotel (ie. PHP), but still have a nice combination of real-time communication, collaborative editing and basic project management.

I have been installing all kinds of platforms for a test drive, but I am still a bit unsure which one would have the proper mix of tools. Tech Tools for Activism manual currently advocates the use of riseup.net for organizing, but since we rank highest in the freedom of press index here we really don't wanna send any funny data to another country. Crabgrass repository hasn't much activity currently?

Regarding pure open source social networking the status of StatusNet is unknown, since Identi.ca is moving to
Pump.io. I don't know at all which FLOSS social network platform should
be advocated now.

Regards
Tomi
