Hi Mark.
- I have a Mac. I'll do the OS X chapter.
- I think a section in the Installation chapter called "Switching to
Thunderbird" would be good. It's not simple and almost all new users
have to deal with migrating accounts and address books.
- You might find some helpful source information on the Thunderbird
Knowledge Base (http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/). Feel
free to register for an account if that would help you out. You may
freely reprint any material on that site.
- I think it would be good to have a section on add-ons in the
Installation chapter.
- I think we should have a chapter on the layout of the software with a
brief description of each component. For example, one section in this
chapter would describe the Folder panel and discuss the differences
between the various views.
- For the Basic Usage chapter, I think we would need the following
sections. (This is a quick brain dump, not a comprehensive list):
- Send / Receive / Reply
- Composing Messages
- Text versus HTML formatting
- Switching between the two
- HTML formatting
- Search
- Global search
- Quick Filter
- Tagging
- Keyboard Shortcuts
- Archive
- ...more...
- We will probably want to have a section on configuring and using RSS.
- In general, with regards to suggestions like the one I made above
(proposals for new chapters and section and so on), should I go ahead
and make the changes in the FLOSS Manuals site or would you rather
discuss via email first?
I will be away from tomorrow until the middle of next week, so I won't
be answering emails. I look forward to catching up with you late next week.
