Unless you specifically need static HTML for server load reasons, I
would suggest directing readers to the editable copy, e.g:

http://booktype-demo.sourcefabric.org/algebra-an-algorithmic-treatment/chapter-1-the-language-of-mathematics/

In current Booktype you can lock down the list of people able to edit
the book.

By default the Books page lists active books and recent books first,
before the full list of books available.

There is nothing to stop you changing the homepage template to list PDFs
and EPUBs for the (finished?) books you particularly want to feature.

Potentially you could list those PDF and EPUB files in an include file
which you update manually, as required.
